Here is a good sign the BMW M2 is about ready to hit showrooms. Spotted on the streets of Germany with the least camouflage we have seen so far, the highly anticipated entry-level M sports car is set to debut online on October 14.

The M2 shares only the bonnet, roof and boot body panels with the standard 2 Series coupe. Fans can look forward to some pumped up wheel fenders, 19-inch wheels, side skirts, deeper front bumper with larger air intake, rear bumper with integrated diffuser and M signature quad exhaust tips.

While exact technical details are still under wraps, expect the M2 to get its power from a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine serving up about 275kW and 465Nm, making it 35kW and 15Nm more powerful than the current range topping M235i Coupe. Driving the rear wheels, the new M2 will cover the sprint from zero to 100km/h in the low 4-second.

Arriving in showrooms next year, the BMW M2 will rival the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG and Audi RS 3.
