BMW has reportedly given the green light for a production M2 CSL, a faster, more powerful and more hardcore version of the standard M2.

According to a well-placed source, the BMW M2 CSL will get an uprated version of the standard car’s turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine, with power figures eclipsing the current 272kW and 465Nm to nudge 300kW and 500Nm.

If the M3 CSL is anything to go by, expect the M2 CSL to feature a stripped out interior and sportier suspension, packaged in a lighter, carbon fibre and aluminium intensive body. It’s also reported that BMW aims the pitch the M2 CSL against the Porsche Cayman GT4.
