BMW’s recently launched 2 Series Coupé line-up has received a new mid-range model in the form of the 228i Coupé, joining the 220i, 220d and the high performance M235i variants.

Announcing details and pricing of the new BMW 228i Coupé today, Toni Andreevski, General Manager of Marketing for BMW Group Australia, says the new BMW 228i Coupé is the perfect addition to the 2 Series Coupé range.

According to Toni Andreevski, General Manager of Marketing for BMW Group Australia, the new BMW 228i Coupé is the perfect addition to the 2 Series Coupé range.

“The multi-award winning engine used in the 328i and 428i has proved to be the sweet spot in their respective ranges, delivering impressive power with a rorty exhaust note and remarkable efficiency,” Andreevski said.

“The 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo engine has received critical acclaim from automotive experts, being awarded international engine of the year in its category for the last two years, so naturally we’re delighted to add this fantastic power plant to our beautiful 2 Series Coupé body,” Andreevski said.

Priced from $64,400, the 228i Coupé is powered by the company’s widely used 2.0-litreTwinPower turbo four cylinder petrol engine developing 180 kW and 350 Nm. This propels the sports Coupé from 0-100 km/h in a spritely 5.7 seconds whilst consuming only 6.3 l/100 km on the combined cycle.

Based on the generous standard equipment included in the entry level 220i and 220d models, the BMW 228i Coupé boasts features such as Navigation System Business which includes a high-res 6.5-inch colour screen, a six-speaker audio system with auxiliary in and USB connection and convenience telephony with extended smartphone connectivity which allows extended Bluetooth functionality such as voice control, audio streaming and pairing of multiple devices.

Also included is the automatic climate control system, heat/sun protection window glazing, sports seats, front and rear Park Distance Control (front optional on 220i and 220d), auto headlight control, rain sensor as well as an anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror, 60:40 split fold rear seats and numerous storage options further enhance the comfort and convenience features in this model.
