Audi SQ5 given the ‘plus’ treatment with 250kW/700Nm

Audi SQ5 TDI plus front quarter

Audi has given the Audi SQ5 TDI a hike in power of nearly 22kW and 50Nm of extra torque, as it becomes the latest Audi ‘S’ model to undergo the performance-intensifying ‘plus’ treatment.

The biturbo 3.0-litre V6 TDI at the heart of the SQ5 TDI plus churns out a formidable 250kW – 20kW more than the current S5 TDI – thanks to increased injection pressure. Combined with 700Nm of torque, the Q5 flagship will rush from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

First the first time on a Q5 variant, the SQ5 TDI plus is fitted with a sports differential at the rear axle in addition to the standard Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Externally, the plus can be distinguished by its gloss black 21-inch cast aluminium Audi Sport wheels in 5-twin-spoke star design and an extended black gloss package, taking in the exterior mirror housings, door handles, roof edge spoiler and rear diffuser. Finally, two clasps join the four exhaust tailpipes in pairs.
