The third member of the Audi Prologue family has been unveiled ahead of its official debut at the Auto Shanghai.

Like all of Audi’s Allroad models, the Prologue Allroad concept is essentially a jacked-up version of the Prologue Avant concept. Measuring 5.13 meter long, the Prologue Allroad concept sits 77mm higher than the Prologue Avant concept and said to display the new, dynamic interpretation of the Audi Allroad philosophy. It also previews the next-generation Audi A6 Allroad.

Its plunging roofline and extremely flat D-pillars give it an athletic profile and is said to emphasis the elegance and dynamics of the Allroad concept in a fresh way, while the widely flared wheel well house 22-inch wheels with a five-arm design.

The window capping strips include sensor surface for the door locks; the covers for the charging port and fuel tank are also electric. The concept’s roof rails, mirror housings and the area around the windows features aluminium accents.

Inside, there are four individual seats and a groundbreaking operating system with three touchscreen displays. The front passenger can configure the infotainment options using a widescreen display fully integrated into the instrument panel. He can swipe to send these to the driver’s display or to the Audi virtual cockpit behind the steering wheel.

The centre console tunnel houses an additional driver display for the climate control system, infotainment and text input featuring OLED technology.

Rear seat passenger also get an additional OLED display on the centre console used to adjust the seats, climate control and infotainment for their area, or to exchange data with the driver.

Additionally, two Audi tablets, which can be mounted in the backs of the front seats, also use OLED technology.

Powering the Prologue Allroad concept is a twin-turbo 4.0-litre TFSI V8 coupled with an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed tiptronic to produce a combined 540kW (734hp) and 900Nm of torque.

The all-wheel drive concept will rocket from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds yet consumes a claim 2.4L/100km. The lithium-ion battery pack is mounted in the rear of the car and has a capacity of 14.1kWh capable of a pure electric range of 54km. With its AWC (Audi Wire Charging) technology, which the brand is developing for series production, the Audi Prologue Allroad can also be charged inductively.

The front and wheel axles are lightweight, five-link constructions. The 20-inch brake discs are made of lightweight carbon fibre ceramic. The adaptive air suspension sport – an air suspension system with controlled damping – is said to offer a wide range between extremely comfortable cruising and tight handling. The dynamic all-wheel steering combines a variable-ratio, dynamic steering unit with an additional steering unit for the rear wheels.
