All-New Peugeot 208 GTi Pricing and Specification

The all-new Peugeot 208GTi has been launched in Australia. Alongside with the Peugeot RCZ, the Peugeot 208GTi represent two strong halo models for the Peugeot brand in Australia.

“The new 208GTi draws a direct link back to the original hot hatch predecessor, the 205GTi. The 205GTi built the Peugeot hot hatch reputation and the 208Ti is a modern take on that hot hatch theme.” said Peugeot Automobiles Australia General Manager/director Bill Gillespie.

“We have had unprecedented levels of interest for the 208GTi and dealers are already holding substantial levels of forward orders,”Mr Gillespie said.

The 208GTi is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine developed in cooperation by PSA Peugeot Citroën and BMW Group, which has just been awarded the 2013 International Engine of the Year prize for the 7th year in a row. It produces 147 kW and 275 Nm of torque. The same engine is also used in the Peugeot RCZ.

The 1.6 THP engine is mated to a six-speed close ratio manual gearbox, allowing the 1,160kg hot hatch to propel from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Combined fuel economy figure is rated at 5.9L/100km.

In line with its strong performance, the 208GTi features sporty 17″ alloy wheels with 205/45 tyres, housing 302mm ventilated discs at the front and 249mm at the rear. The chassis has also been tighten with spring damper adjustment, anti-roll bar, front sub frame and rear cross member are stiffened and the shock absorbers have been reinforced.

Inside, the driver and front passenger are supported by sports bucket seats that combine full grain Club Nappa leather with Caro Weave cloth. There’s also red stitching throughout including on the seats, handbrake, dashboard, floor mats and the perforated leather steering wheel with red racing marker.
