ABT tuned Mk7 Volkswagen Golf GTI

The Mk7 Volkswagen Golf GTI hasn’t quite reached our showrooms yet, but tuners have already started to wind up the wick on the hot hatch. ABT Sportsline in particular, has put forward their proposal for Golf GTI.

As we all know by now, the standard Mk7 Golf GTI produces 162kW of power, while the Performance variant puts out 169kW. Working on Stage 1 tune for the base car, the ABT Mk7 Golf GTI will develop 198kW (270hp) from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. As if that’s not enough, the German tuner is also working on a more potent Stage 2 that will see power go up to as high as 228kW (310hp).

Buyers of the Performance variant aren’t left out either, with ABT confirming they are developing a tune for it as well. If the performance of the ABT tuned standard Golf GTI is any indication, the tuned Performance Golf GTI will even be scarier.

Aesthetically, the white ABT Golf GTI features an aerodynamic kit with red highlights in the lower front bumper, side skirts and door mirrors. At the back, the black diffuser has been painted white, topped with red highlight and flanked by four exhaust pipes. For those who prefer the more understated look, a black-themed body kits is also on offer.

As well as a set of lowering suspension springs, the hot hatch rolls on a choice of DR and ER-C design alloys in either 18- or 19-inch size. Another defining feature is the body coloured eyebrow on the headlights that is supposed to give the car a more sinister look.
