2019 Hyundai Tucson gains new look, safety and tech upgrade

Fresh interior and exterior styling, new SmartSense safety pack and a tablet-style infotainment system headline the facelifted 2019 Hyundai Tucson range, which goes on sale now.

The revised line-up comprises four variants, with the new range-opener now called Go and priced from $28,150 plus on-road costs.

On the styling front, the 2019 Tucson gains a new visage featuring a new interpretation of Hyundai’s cascading grille, restyled headlights and daytime running lights.

Fresh wheel designs, 17-inch for the Go and Active X, and machine-finished 18- and 19-inch for the Elite and Highlander rounds up the rejigged styling.

Inside, the Tucson gets a brand new dashboard a floating tablet-style multimedia system measuring 7-inch for the Go and 8-inch for the rest of the range, all with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Stepping up to the $31,350 Tucson Active X brings a leather interior, sat-nav with live traffic and lifetime map updates, Infinity Premium Audio, rear park assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The $37,850 Tucson Elite benefits with the addition of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), while the $46,500 range-topping Highlander adds a heated steering wheel and wireless (Qi) smartphone charging, amongst others.

The 2019 Tucson range also benefit from a new eight-speed automatic transmission paired with the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with all-wheel drive.

The introduction of an optional SmartSense Safety Pack makes advanced safety accessible to every Tucson owner.

The SmartSense pack available for automatic Tucson Go and Active models brings Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) systems among the safety and convenience features.
