The BMW M4 GTS may soon have a challenger in the form of the Mercedes-AMG C63 R Coupe.

Spotted pounding the Nürburgring recently by YouTube poster, Supercarsfromeu076, the “R” variant will likely take its spot as the range-topper following the footsteps of the Mercedes-AMG GT R – the first model to sport the R badge.

The track-focused model can be seen here wearing a more aggressive, aero-tuned body kit, complete with a carbon fibre rear wing. The C63 R will likely be propelled by the same twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 as the C63, although exact power output remains a mystery. Nevertheless, it is safe to presume the mill will churn out more power than the C63 S’ 375kW but less than the AMG GT R’s 424kW.

We can expect more information to surface in the next few months as the car inches closer to its launch.
