Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off its latest addition to the AMG lineup, the C63 Cabriolet, at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.

The range-topper for the C-Class Cabriolet lineup is set to bring open-top thrills to the range courtesy of its biturbo 4.0-litre V8 engine shared with the rest of the C63 models. It chuffs out 345kW of power and 650Nm of torque in standard guise, and 375kW and 700Nm of torque in the S variant.

Power is channeled to the wheels exclusively via a 7-speed automatic transmission, which enables the C63 Cabriolet to hit 100km/h from a standstill in 4.2 seconds, with the C63 S doing the deed 0.1 seconds quicker. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h on the C63 and 300km/h on the C63 S.

On the styling front, besides the obvious electrically operated canvass top, the C63 Cabriolet gets 18-inch wheels painted in titanium grey, while the S is shod with 19-inch alloy of a similar look. A 20-inch matte black alloy is offered as an option.

Inside, apart from the open and airier feel, the interior is carried over from the Coupe.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet will hit showrooms later this year.
