2016 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack on sale now

Volkswagen has launched its latest 2016 Passat Alltrack in Australia, packed with a more powerful 2.0-litre TDI engine mated to a six-speed DSG transmission.

Based on the popular Passat Wagon, the high-riding Alltrack benefits from the latest generation 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, 27.5mm of extra ground clearance and features unique exterior and interior styling.

As befitting its “pseudo” SUV persona, the Passat Alltrack gets restyled front and rear bumpers, wheel arch mouldings and flared side sills for additional body protection, while the standard 18-inch “Kalamata” alloy wheels have been created specifically for the Alltract.

Inside, there’s Vienna leather appointed upholstery, a leather multi-function steering wheel and gearshift knob, as well as LED reading lights. It also gets a high definition 8.0-inch Discover Pro infotainment system complete with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems, along with USB, SD card and AUX-in connectivity.

At the heart of the Passat Alltrack is a 2.0-litre turbocharged TDI diesel engine that produces 140kW and 400Nm, while offering a claimed combined fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km. It is matched with a standard six-speed DSG transmission and Haldex all-wheel drive system.

Safety wise, the new Passat Alltrack comes standard with 9 airbags, multi-collision brake technology, a driver Fatigue Detection system, Continental mobility tyres, a low tyre pressure indicator, parking distance sensors and reversing camera, ESP and XDL.

The new Passat Alltrack is priced from $49,290 plus on-road costs. Options include metallic paint ($700) and a Luxury Pack ($3,500) which adds a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, electric foldable mirrors, Park Assist 3, LED daytime running lights, LED headlights with Dynamic Cornering Function, Headlight washers and a chrome grille strip.
