2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé & Shooting Brake lands in Australia

The updated 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé and Shooting Brake duo has arrived in Australia.

The model’s line up remains unchanged, incorporating four variants for each model – the CLA 200, CLA 200d, CLA 250 Sport 4Matic and the range-topping Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic.

The CLA 200 Coupé and Shooting Brake utilise a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which produces 115kW of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both models will arrive on local shores with LED headlights, DAB+ digital radio, Dynamic Select driving modes, a diamond radiator grille and ambient lighting. The entry-level Shooting Brake also comes with the Keyless-Go comfort package as standard. It brings hands-free access, keyless-go and an easy-pack tailgate.

The 2.1-litre turbo-diesel in the 220d has been updated with an additional 30kW of power and 50Nm of torque, putting out 130kW and 350Nm, while maintaining a claimed combined average of 4.2L/100km for the CLA 220d Coupé.

The CLA 250 Sport 4Matic pair meanwhile is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol delivering 160kW and 350Nm matched with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system. It gets 18-inch AMG wheels, AMG Ride Control sports suspension, a panoramic glass sunroof, sports seats in black Red Cut leather, fully electric and heated front seats as well as Adaptive Highbeam Assist.

The fire-breathing CLA 45 Coupé and Shooting Brake is equipped with AMG’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder churning out 280kW and 475Nm of torque. It will blast from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds (4.3 seconds for the Shooting Brake) while returning a claimed 7.4L/100km.

Standard features include 19-inch AMG wheels, AMG Driver’s Package, AMG performance exhaust, AMG high-performance braking system, AMG Performance Seats, Comand Online Navigation and a Harmon Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system.

On the safety front, the entire range is equipped with 9 airbags, Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe, Parking Pilot, Attention Assist and an Active Bonnet.

AMG CLA 45 variants will also arrive with Distance Pilot Distronic and Lane Keeping Assist as standard.
