A handful of undisguised spy photos of the 2016 BMW X1 have found their way onto the web, courtesy of Chinese publication, AutoHome.
The model depicted in these photos appears to be the Chinese-specific xDrive 25 Li. Going by the model nomenclature, the car is likely powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 170kW and 350Nm driving all four wheels. The Li likely points to a long wheelbase model favoured by the Chinese.
The car sports a large kidney grille flanked by a pair of headlights similar to the recently launched 1 Series facelift. It front bumper features chrome trim, while at the back, there is BMW’s familiar L-shape taillights.
BMW’s latest SUV is based on the UKL platform that also underpins the new MINI and the company’s next-generation 1 Series.
The all-new X1 is expected to be unveiled later this year.
