2016 Audi A4 spied again ahead of September debut

Spy-Shots of Cars

Audi’s next generation A4 hits the road once again for some final stages of testing before its world premiere at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

Spotted by spy photographers, the heavily camouflaged prototype reveals little about the design of the 2016 Audi A4 (B9), but some images leaked last month provided a glimpse of the new car’s headlight and grille, as well as the redesigned dashboard.

The new A4 is built on the second-generation Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLB) platform and weights approximately 100kg lighter than the current model. A range of petrol and diesel powertrains in both front and all-wheel drive will be available.

Two plug-in hybrid versions will also be introduced, which will be sold under the e-tron badge. The petrol variant will use a 2.0 TFSI matched with an electric motor and a 9-speed S-tronic gearbox, while the diesel will get a 2.0 TDI paired with two electric motors along with the 9-speed S-tronic transmission.
