The all-new Volvo XC90 range has launched in Australia priced from $89,950 plus on-road costs. The XC90 is the first vehicle to introduce Volvo’s new global trim level strategy, with Australia taking Momentum, Inscription and R-Design variants, each offering a different exterior and interior level of standard features.

The 165kW/470Nm 2.0-litre Drive-E four-cylinder turbo-diesel D5 and the 235kW/400Nm 2.0-litre Drive-E four-cylinder turbo petrol T6 engines will be available across the Momentum, Inscription and R-Design specification levels, while the T8 hybrid will be available exclusively in R-Design specification.

The plug-in-hybrid features a 2.0-litre turbocharge four-cylinder engine connected with an electric motor putting out 235kW at 5,700rpm + 65kW at 7,000rpm (electric) and 400Nm At 2,200-5,400rpm + 240Nm @ 0-3000rpm (Electric). It is the quickest model in the range, accomplishing 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds while the T6 and D5 require 6.5 and 7.8 seconds, respectively.

Fuel economy is a claimed 2.1L/100km for the hybrid, 8.5L/100km for the petrol and 6.2L/100km for the diesel.

All models are mated with an 8-speed geartronic automatic married to an all-wheel drive system.

The All-New XC90 is said to deliver new heights of performance, luxury and safety. The engineering of the second-generation XC90 incorporates Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and innovative four-cylinder Drive–E engine technology. The luxurious interior is dominated by Volvo’s new Sensus touch screen HMI system that delivers all the vehicle’s functions at the touch of a finger.

To coincide with the launch of the All-New XC90 Volvo Car Australia has launched Volvo SmartCare, a new upfront Service and Maintenance Plan for new Volvo drivers.

Volvo SmartCare will give Volvo drivers peace of mind on scheduled service and maintenance checks for up to 5 years. Volvo SmartCare offers two service and maintenance options:

  • Volvo SmartCare covers scheduled servicing in accordance with the Volvo Service schedules with the option of cover for two years (45,000km) and five years (75,000km)
  • Volvo SmartCare Plus – in addition to the above scheduled servicing it includes maintenance items with the option of cover for two years (45,000km) and five years (75,000km)

“Volvo SmartCare is an upfront plan that gives new Volvo drivers peace of mind that their new Volvo is covered for scheduled services by a certified Volvo factory-trained technician using Volvo genuine parts,” said Philip Larmour, Customer Service Director at Volvo Car Australia.

“Customers will receive the full range of car servicing options like oil changes and software performance checks, with the added option of maintenance extra such as brake pad checks over 3 or 5 years.”

Volvo SmartCare can be purchased at any time within the first 12 months of car ownership providing the vehicle has not been exceeded the Volvo scheduled distance or time and not been serviced by any other third party.
