2015 BMW 1 Series LCI pricing and specifications

BMW Australia has announced the pricing and specification of the facelifted 2015 BMW 1 Series range.

The BMW 118i now takes over from the 116i as the new entry-level model while retaining the same sticker of $36,900 plus on-road costs as the outgoing 116i. Specification level has also been increase with Rear View Camera and ConnectedDrive Real Time Traffic Information is now standard across the range.

The BMW 118i, 118d and 120i now come in Sport line, while the BMW 125i is equipped with the M Sport package as standard.

Besides more generous specification, the mid-cycle update also brings a revision of model designations, with an increase in output resulting in the former BMW 116i becoming the 118i, while the previous 118i is now the BMW 120i.

The 118d retains it current model designation and has been realigned with its petrol equivalent.

The BMW M135i remains the flagship of the 1 Series range.

The facelifted rear-wheel drive hatch is devised by Australian-born BMW designer, Calvin Luk, who banished the controversial “angry-bird” front fascia in favour of a more elegant front end.

At the back, the taillights now extend into the tailgate matched by a new rear bumper.

“We are particularly excited by the Australian influence which has helped shape the new model, with Sydney’s Calvin Luk delivering an enthusiastically received facelift of an enthusiastically performing car,” said BMW Group Australia Head of Product and Market Planning, Shawn Ticehurst.

Despite its divisive styling, BMW said the 2^nd generation BMW 1 Series has proven to be a success, with over 560,000 units sold globally since its launch in 2011.
