2014 SRT Viper Time Attack Limited Edition Revealed

Track days events are so popular these days that almost every car maker offers some sort of track oriented version of their performance cars. And the SRT Viper is no exception. The limited “Time Attack” edition of the 2014 Viper is set to be revealed at the New York Motor Show at the end of March.

The SRT Viper Time Attack will be available in the US starting third quarter of the year and limited to a production run of only 33 units. The track setup Viper will wear an exclusive “Crusher Orange” exterior paint. Priced at US$120,500, it will slot between the standard Viper ($US102,500) and the more expensive Viper GTS ($US125,000).

At the heart of the Viper Time Attack is the same V10 8.4-litre engine from the standard Viper that produces 477 kW and 814 Nm of torque. However, the Time Attack edition gets a custom-tuned Bilstein suspension with a two-mode damper adjustment system developed specifically for the track. The standard car’s aluminium structural X-brace has also been replaced by a lighter carbon fibre brace.

Stopping performance comes from an upgraded Brembo brake kit while unsprung weight is reduced with a set of lightweight Sidewinder II alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

A new aero kit further distinguishes the Viper Time Attack from the standard car with front splitters, rear spoiler and a rear applique.

With clever use of lightweight components, the Viper Time Attack weights in at only 1,518 kg compared to the Viper’s 1,521 kg and the Viper GTS’ 1,530 kg.
