2014 Mitsubishi Pajero scores 5-star ANCAP and more equipment

Mitsubishi has launched its MY14 Mitsubishi Pajero range and headlining the updated range is a 5-star ANCAP rating, up from 4-star.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, said the Pajero has been a long-time favourite of Australian consumers with its safety features, on and off-road capabilities, luxurious specifications and value for money.

“Now with peace of mind five-star  ANCAP rating, Pajero provides a tough yet luxurious four-wheel drive that suits the family’s day to day needs as well as being completely equipped for the next adventure.”

All MY14 Mitsubishi Pajero’s now come standard with 6 airbags, seat belt reminders, ISOFIX child restraints (from July production) and reversing camera. All variants are also equipped with keyless entry.

The MY14 Pajero’s are now powered exclusively by a 3.2-litre Common Rail turbo diesel engine that delivers 147kW of power at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque at 2,000rpm (the 3.8-litre V6 petrol has been dropped). It returns a claimed 9.0L/100km.

Starting from $50,990, the entry-level GLX comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, front skid plate, rear fog lamps, roof rails and wheel arch flares. While the interior is equipped with leather steering wheel and shift lever, climate control, electrochromatic rear view mirror with reverse monitor, USB and iPod connectivity and Bluetooth.

An extra $5,000 separates the GLX-R from the GLX and buys an additional 2 seats at the back, integrated side steps, front mud guards and fog lamps, and manual rear cabin zone air conditioning.

The sports oriented Pajero VRX opens at $63,990 and comes with a five-speed automatic transmission with Sports Mode as standard. Exterior enhancement consists of 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome radiator grille, exterior door mirrors with turn signals and puddle lamps, and privacy glass.

It also receives partial leather seat, leather look floor, console and door trims, power adjustable front seats with seat warmers and auto headlamp and wipers. The all-new Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System (MMCS) found in the Pajero VRX features a high-resolution touch-screen panel with 3D satellite navigation.

The range topping Exceed costs an extra $10,000 and adds High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, roof rails, rear tailgate spoiler, chrome mirrors and door handles, a 860 watt, 12-speaker Rockford Acoustic Design sound system and rear seat 9” DVD entertainment system with two wireless headphones.
