2014 Audi R8 realistically imagined

2014 Audi R8 rendering

While Audi is still busy preparing the next-generation Audi R8, Lutz Valdeig has imagined what the new supercar will look like in this rendering.

It wears Audi’s new-look grille, first seen on the Nanuk concept. Painted in a cherry red exterior finish and complete with contrasting aluminium side-blade, the car looks sharp and cohesive.

Audi has confirmed that the next-generation R8 is set for a 2014 launch and will be built at the newly established Böllinger Höfe facility. It will ride on a platform shared with the next-generation Lamborghini Gallardo, likely to be called Cabrera.

Despite reportedly maintaining the current model’s proportions, the new car will tip the scale at less than 1,500kg. It will likely carry over the current model’s engine range as well, but pushes out an extra 19kW and feature engine stop/start technology that should be a 10 per cent drop in fuel consumption.
