2013 Skoda Octavia Wagon revealed

Skoda has released a couple of photos of the 2013 Skoda Octavia Wagon, ahead of its official debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Like its sedan sibling, it will be built on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform that is shared with the Mk7 VW Golf. The 2013 model is 45mm wider and 90mm longer than its predecessor, and comes with an 11cm longer wheelbase.

As a result, rear seat occupants now get an extra 73mm of legroom while luggage space is now 610 litres with the seats up, an increase of 30 litres. With the rear seats folded, the Octavia wagon’s boot space increases to 1,740 litres from 1,620 litres in the outgoing model.

It is likely that the Octavia Wagon will share its powerplants with the sedan. An AWD variant is also available in European markets. It features the new fifth-generation Haldex all-wheel drive system, also borrowed from the Golf.

The 2013 Skoda Octavia Sedan is expected to be launched in Australia in the 3rd quarter of this year, while the wagon will likely to arrive sometime in 2014.
