2013 Skoda Octavia spied in its full glory

The 2013 Skoda Octavia has been spied strutting its stuff with not a thread of camouflage! Pictured here in what looks like a commercial photo shoot, the new generation Octavia is set to hit showrooms later next year.

It rides on Volkswagen Group’s latest ‘MQB’ platform, which already underpins the latest Audi A3 and the just released Volkswagen Golf Mk7. Like its stable mates, the new Octavia will be lighter than the current model, despite growing slightly larger.

The current-generation’s 90’s inspired styling has made way for a more chiselled contemporary design. Its engine line-up is expected to mirror closely those offered in the new Volkswagen Golf Mk7. That includes a range of small capacity turbocharged petrol and diesel units, with outputs ranging from 77kW to around 164kW for the 2.0-litre TFSI that will power the new vRS sports variant.

Skoda has also released an official trailer previewing the new model by the company’s designer.  The next-generation Skoda Octavia is set to be revealed later this month.
