2013 Mitsubishi Mirage Pricing & Specifications Announced

The new Mitsubishi Mirage has entered the light-car battle ground priced from A$12,990. The Thai-built city car comes in three grades – ES, Sport and LS (read review here).

They are all powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 57kW at 6,000rpm and 100Nm at 4,000 rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at 4.6L/100km for the ES and Sport variants (both transmissions), while the LS returns 4.8L/100km when teamed with the manual transmission, and 4.9L/100km with the CVT.

The Mirage ES is fitted with 14-inch steel wheels, leather-wrapped tilt-adjustable steering wheel, manual air conditioning, cloth upholstered seats, a two-speaker audio system with USB and AUX input and Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming.

The mid-range Mirage Sport demands a A$1,200 premium over the ES, and adds 14-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and two additional speakers for the sound system.

For an additional A$1,300, the top shelve Mirage LS buys larger 15-inch alloys, leather-wrapped gearshift knob, front foglights, chrome interior door handles, climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, auto headlights and wipers.

All variants are equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is available for an extra A$2,250.

Every model in the range comes standard with six airbags and electronic stability control. Mitsubishi also points out that the Mirage is engineered to achieve a maximum five-star crash rating, although it has yet to be independently tested by ANCAP.

At 3,710mm long, 1,665mm wide and 1,500mm tall, the Mitsubishi Mirage is slightly bigger than the Suzuki Alto. Mitsubishi claims the ES’s 4.4-metre turning radius is the best in its class.

The Mirage is available in a selection of six richly-hued colours – Mulberry (pictured), Cyber Blue (LS only), Red Planet, Midnight Black (LS only), Cool Silver and White.
