2013 Audi RS4 Avant on sale in the UK from £54,925

Audi’s latest RS4 Avant has gone on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £54,925 OTR before any options. It is available exclusively as a station wagon.

Powering Audi’s most potent ‘A4’ is a high-revving, naturally aspirated V8 engine that generates 444hp (450PS/331kW) at 8,250rpm and 317 lb-ft (430Nm) of torque between 4,000 and 6,000rpm.

Power is transferred to all four wheels via Audi’s quattro system that is connected to a standard 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. The German company claims the RS4 will do 0-62mph (100km/h) in 4.7 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph (250km/h), which can be increased to 174mph (280km/h) if you asked nicely.

Fuel economy is officially rated at 26.4mpg UK.

As you would expect on a luxury vehicle at this level, the RS4 Avant is relatively well equipped. Standard features include 19-inch forged alloy wheels shod with 265/35-series tyres, power adjustable front sport seats draped in a combination of black leather and Alcantara, Bluetooth, Audi Music Interface with Ipod connection, DVD-based satellite navigation and cruise control.

However, there is also a long list of options to tempt buyers to part with more of their pennies, including carbon fibre ceramic disc brakes, and a new £2,250 Sport Package that adds the Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) system, 20-inch wheels and a sports exhaust system.

Deliveries of the RS4 Avant will start in the British Autumn.
