Peugeot has announced the company’s most powerful road car, the RCZ R will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on July 12.
First shown as a concept at last year’s Paris Motor Show, the French automaker has confirmed the production version of the RCZ R shares the show car’s 194kW (260hp) 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged THP petrol engine, co-developed with BMW Group. It is a tweaked version of the unit found under the current Peugeot RCZ.
A new Torsen limited slip differential is designed to ensure all the power is put to good use under the front wheels. Peugeot engineers has also fettled with the suspension set-up and equipped the RCZ R with bigger boots to improve its handling.
The manufacturer has not released any details on the car’s styling yet, but we hope the show car’s eye-catching matte black paintwork and copper pillars will make it to production.
The Peugeot RCZ R is expected to go on sale later this year. In the meantime, you can read our opinion on the Peugeot RCZ here.
