$1.6M worth of Fisker Karma damaged by Hurricane Sandy

Tropical storm, Hurricane Sandy, which reaped through the eastern seaboard of the United States, will go down in history as one of the most devastating ever. It is estimated that the cost of rebuilding damaged buildings and infrastructure will be up to US180billion.

Most of us would also have seen the damaged vehicles strewn all over the place like little match box cars in a children’s playground.

Unfortunately for Fisker, approximately 16 brand new Karma extended-range sports hybrids that were parked in Port Newark, New Jersey waiting for the boat have been severely damaged.

According to Jalopnik, the ill-fated sports sedans first got submerged in a storm surge and then caught fire and exploded!

As you can see from these pictures, the US$100,000+ luxury hybrids were reduced to an unrecognisable heap next to several others that escaped the carnage.

The cause of the fire remains a mystery for now, but it’s a devastating sight none the less. Fisker has since issued a statement stating that they intend to find the cause of the fire as quickly as possible.
