Facelifted Toyota Yaris arrives in Australia with better safety tech

2017 Toyota Yaris – (l to r) SX, ZR and Ascent

The facelifted 2017 Toyota Yaris has arrived in Australia with a range of advanced safety features available across the range.

The pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert and automatic high beam are standard on the range-topping ZR and offered as a $650 option on the Ascent and SX.

Outside, the revised Yaris adopts a more dynamic front fascia with a new trapezoidal grille, restyled front bumper and a pair of bi-LED headlamps on the ZR with distinctive forked pattern light guides.

Along the sides, a new lower door moulding adds a sportier look, complemented by fresh wheel designs – 15-inch steel with silver cover for the Ascent and SX and new 16-inch alloy with a silver metallic finish for the ZR.

At the back, there’s a new tailgate, redesigned light cluster and rear bumper. The ZR again scores LED taillights.

A new vivid colour called Azure Blue has been added to the range.

Inside, the general layout is carried over but modernised with gloss black inserts on the steering wheel, audio unit surround and around the gear-knob base.

The carried over 63kW/120Nm 1.3-litre and 80kW/141Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines are now Euro 5 compliant.

All models feature cruise control, a mult-information display, air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors, reversing camera and a 12-volt accessory socket.

SX variants add front fog lamps, rear privacy glass and a premium steering wheel and gear shifter.

The range-topping ZR gains automatic climate control, satellite navigation, Toyota Link connected mobility and a rear spoiler.

Every new Yaris is covered by Toyota Service Advantage capped-price servicing at a maximum of $140 per service.
