2018 Holden ZB Commodore Pricing and Specification revealed

The next-generation Holden Commodore is finally upon us, with the first imported production model set to hit Holden showrooms from late February 2018.

The premiere of Holden’s German-built, Opel Insignia-based Commodore comes after months of intensive steering and suspension tuning on local roads around Victoria by the company’s Melbourne-based engineering and chassis division. Replacing the Australian-built VF Commodore, the new ZB Commodore will be available in liftback, wagon and crossover body styles, spanning the entry-level, Calais and VXR trim levels. It will be the first ever modern Commodore to see the absence of a ute body.

Power comes from a 191kW / 350Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol driving the front wheels, or a 235W / 381Nm 3.6-litre atmospheric V6 paired with the nameplate’s first ever all-wheel drive system. Both engines are matched with new 9-speed automatic transmission.

The rejigged line-up also sees a reduction in price across the range, with the entry level LT 2.0-litre turbo priced from $33,690 plus on-road costs, a drop of $1,800 compared to its base model predecessor, the VFII Evoke. The news for customers gets even better with a driveaway offer at launch of just $35,990 – that’s $3,935 less than its predecessor.

A new four-cylinder turbo diesel will join the range as the most fuel efficient model in late 2018. It will fetch a premium of $3,000 over the equivalent 2.0 turbo petrol counterpart.

“The next-generation Commodore is a stunning vehicle that’s already getting rave reviews in Europe in Opel Insignia guise,” said Holden’s Executive Director – Marketing, Mark Harland.

“It looks sleek and sporty on the outside, while inside it’s refined and sophisticated with intelligent use of premium materials and a long list of user-friendly high-tech features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless phone charging.

“As well as being able to access the range from just $35,990 on-the-road, customers are given peace of mind to test the car in their own time and see how well it fits in their daily lives with our Take Your Time test Drive.”

While Holden has rested the famous SS badge, for the time being, there is still a familiar name sitting within the range – the much-loved, Calais.

As the luxury flavor of the range, the Calais and Calais V nameplates are retained and promise a raft of sophisticated, premium additions like heated and cooled massage seats, leather steering wheel and wireless phone charging. The Calais is powered by either the 2.0 turbo four cylinder or 3.6-litre normally aspirated V6.

Heading up the sports side of the range is the 3.6-litre V6 AWD, Commodore VXR that delivers performance in a new way for Commodore, with Continuous Damping Control suspension, front Brembo brakes and Adaptive AWD.
