2017 MINI Countryman pricing and specification announced

Completing the new-generation MINI range, the latest MINI Countryman has arrived in Australia. With four models on offer, the compact crossover is available with a range of petrol and diesel drivetrains and front- or all-wheel drive options.

“The new MINI Countryman introduces the excitement of the MINI range to the Premium Compact segment,” said MINI Australia General Manager, Tony Sesto. “It’s the perfect car for families to enjoy an active lifestyle, with ample space, comfort and high efficiency from the new engine family. The standard advanced safety systems add further peace of mind.”

Pricing before on-road costs starts from $39,900 for the entry-level Countryman Cooper and stretches to $51,500 for the range-topping Countryman Cooper SD. In between, the Countryman Cooper D lobs $43,900 while the upper-spec Countryman Cooper S carries a sticker of $46,500.

The MINI Cooper Countryman is the brand’s biggest model and the second iteration has further grown by 200mm in length and 30mm in width. Its wheelbase has also stretched by 75mm. The new dimensions mean the Countryman is now as big as the Audi Q3 and BMW X1.

The grown in size has resulted in “significantly increased space on five fully-fledged seats”, claims MINI. With 59mm additional elbow room, 50mm more shoulder room, 9mm more headroom and a significant 50mm increase in rear legroom, the new-generation Countryman is more spacious than the model it replaces.

Cargo space has also improved, with the boot now offering 450 litres of capacity, 220 litres more than before. With the rear seats folded, the space expands to 1,309 litres.

It is more customisable than ever. Countryman owners can specify specific exterior appearance sets that best reflect their lifestyle. The standard ‘Elegant’ exterior theme can be altered to an ‘Offroad’ style via the optional MINI All4 off-road styling package. A sports-led aesthetic can be delivered via the optional John Cooper Works Chili Package.
