Nissan at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon

The 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon kicks off this weekend and Nissan is using the auto show to showcase its racing activities with a range of Nismo-tuned championship cars and their road going versions.

Taking centre stage is this Nismo Nissan GT-R SuperGT which competes in the GT500 class.

Parked alongside it is the Nismo Nissan GT-R GT3 representing the company in various GT3 endurance races and FIA GT3 championships.

Derived from the racing cars is the most extreme GT-R ever, the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Like the standard GT-R, the Nismo variant is propelled by the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 VR38DETT engine, but complete with race derived modifications that includes new high-flow, large diameter turbochargers from the GT3 racer, as well as optimised individual ignition timing control for each cylinder and upgraded fuel pump that improves combustion.The result is a lift of its output to 442kW of power and 652Nm of torque.

Drawn on three decades of racing experience gathered by Nismo, the Nissan GT-R Nismo is the fastest production GT-R ever, covering the sprint from 0-100km/h in just 2.5 seconds. It is also officially the fastest volume production car to lap the challenging Nürburgring circuit in Germany, with an astonishing lap time of 7:08.679.

Complimenting the GT-R Nismo at the Nissan booth is the 370Z Nismo. Sporting a liberal application of red highlights, the Nismo-tweaked 370Z get a redesigned front bumper infused with LED daytime running lights and red accents on the integrated front chin spoiler.

Under the bonnet is the same aluminium-alloy 3.7-litre V6 producing 245kW and 363Nm and matched with a standard close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. A 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching and manual shift mode with paddle shifters is available as an option.

Also on display is the new project car from Nissan’s aftermarket tuning partner, Autech. The fully decked out Autech Nissan Elgrand sports a customised gun-metal metallic paint work, revised front and rear bumper, side skirts and new dark chrome 18-inch wheels.
